Rat Terrier    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Howdy, y'all! Little Lady here. I have spent my whole life making babies for people to sell at flea markets. I recently developed two hernias on my little teets and I was deemed no longer fit for breeding, so my people took me to the flea market to get rid of me as well. I know - boo! But that's the past, let's move forward. A kind gentleman saw me and fell in love with me. He agreed to 'save' me, although he didn't have anywhere to take me. He ran across a nearby adoption festival, where he asked several rescues to take me. Some were gone, some had to say 'no,' but, of course, Mama Donna's 'people' were still there '| and packing up ... (Read More)their last bag for the day '| and, well, they couldn't say no. How could you? Look at this face! In addition to the masses that were growing on me, I had 18 teeth rotting in my head. That happens a lot to breeder moms like me - all of the nutrients I ever received, few and far between, went straight to my babies. Fortunately, the masses were benign and easily removed and, once all of those nasty teeth were out of my head, I really perked up. I was also spayed, so no more babies for me. I now am the baby - and a like it. In fact, I like it a lot. I am a feisty little delight who loves everyone I meet. Unlike a lot of breeder dogs, I totally trust people and love being held and loved on. I haven't spent a whole lot of time directly with the other dogs here because I've been healing up, but they don't faze me at all. I should be fine with other dogs. Doc couldn't really specify my age because of my bad teeth, but he guessed around 6-7 years old. I'm ready to roll to a new home. Come out, meet me '| and let me give you a big hug '| because I will! Compatibility: Good w/ Most Dogs, Good w/ Most Cats, Good w/ Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Submissive
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello. I'm Sparky. I'm still a little confused and scared about why I'm here, but they assure me I'll get over that quickly and get feisty at JRT-U. My heart was recently broken when my family moved and decided they couldn't take me with them. They dropped me off at the kill shelter with 'my child' watching everything. I'm sure they are as sad and lost as me. But it 'is what it is,' I guess, and now I must move on. I really love Mama Donna and the vols I've met so far and am looking forward to a new life. I'm 5 years old, around 18 lbs., heartworm negative, UTD on shots, and get along fine with other dogs, children, cats, etc. I'm even ... (Read More)housebroken. I'm very laid-back and submissive. I love to be loved on and will easily roll over for belly rubs. (Less)

Rescue Me ID: 16-05-12-00584Baby Girl (female)

Beagle Mix    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Not Good with Other Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Spayed

Hello, big world. Baby girl here. Am I cute or what? Yes, I was definitely somebody's baby girl. I lived with a person who loved me very much, but, unfortunately, went to the human Rainbow Bridge. I didn't have anyone else to take care of me, so now I am searching for a new person or family to call my own and return the love I have to give. I'm an adorable, 16-lb. Terrier/Beagle mix, about 4 years old and very sweet, smart, easygoing and fun-loving. I mostly enjoy being with people, belly scratches, cuddling and treats. I'm leash trained and I do well with all people (tall and small) and, yes, even cats! Some dogs are OK, some aren't, so I ... (Read More)will need to meet yours. I will sometimes do a little 'tap-dance' and howl when I first see you that makes me even more adorable. I do, however, have a health issue that makes me extra special. Because of what was probably damage from a prior kidney infection, I can't 'concentrate' my urine. This leads me to wanting to drink obsessively (which, of course, can lead to bloat and additional damage). Fortunately, they have found me a very affordable diabetic medication that is helping me control this. Yay! I have to take it three times a day, but it's only $30/month and it's working wonders. The rescue says they will even help with my medications for a few months, if someone will give me the home I deserve. Other than that small issue, I am nothing short of awesome! Can I be your Baby Girl? (Less)

Jack Russell    Age: Young Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults
Personality: Average Energy, Average Temperament
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current, Hip Dysplasia

Hello, two legged-peeps, I'm Turner. I was at rescue for a few months in the summer of 2015, but you didn't hear much about me because I had some troubles going on. I know, hard to believe looking at me - I'm freakin' gorgeous! I was hit by a truck-yes, a truck-when I was younger. My family could not afford to help me, and my back hips did not heal well like they should have. I was only 2-3, but I had dealt with pain for most of my life. I was very stiff legged and could barely lift my leg to pee '| although, trust me, I tried to about 200x a day. After all, I'm a Jack and I'm a boy! Must. Claim. Everything. Because I was uncomfortable, ... (Read More)I could be snippy sometimes and I snapped at people and other dogs on more than one occasion. That, however, is all behind me now, thanks to some therapy and medication! I've been in a temporary foster home and am doing great. I don't mind being touched and loved on and get along fine with the other dogs. I thought I had a home a couple of months ago, but things haven't quite worked out. We're still working with our sister rescue to place me in a northern home, but they are listing me again here to let you know I'm still available. Some of you had expressed an interest in me way back when. Overall, I'm a wonderful, smart boy who just wants to have fun. I am (again) all Jack and would do best in a home with someone who is Jack-savvy and understands that, even though my hip will have some permanent weakness, I am still gung-ho when it comes to playing and running! Thanks to living in foster care, I am fully house- and crate-trained and get along great with other dogs and all humans now. (Less)

Personality: High Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Howdy, everyone! You may remember me from 2013 when I first arrived at rescue. I was adopted a couple of years ago and had a great life, but then we had to move. I ended up in an apartment, which just wasn't right for me. If you recall, I'm a very active boy. I like to be engaged, learning new things and constantly staying active or I can get a little anxious. Mom and the rescue both decided it would be best to bring me back here, where I can play in the field with the others every day until I can find a new home that it better suited to my needs. So, here I am. I know some of you had fallen in love with me originally, so guess what - ... (Read More)here's your chance to adopt me again! I love to play ball, run and am very curious about everything. I'm also very smart and picked up on agility right away. That said, I will need an active owner/family and some guidance from a very experienced JRT parent. I am a young boy (around 4 years old), am UTD on shots and am heartworm free. I love people and am fine with other dogs. (Less)

Jack Russell    Age: Young Adult

Personality: Average Energy, Somewhat Dominant
Health: Neutered, Vaccinations Current

Hello, there. Wrangler here. I arrived at rescue in late February from the kill shelter. They don't really know much about my history, just that I am adorable and needed help. A couple of our adopted parents (aka Einstein's and Vela's parents) saw me and stepped up to sponsor me. Some fella named Eli had just passed at the rescue the day before, and they thought the perfect thing to do would be to save another shelter dog to honor him. So %BD'%BD| here I am! And so is Jake, who was at the shelter with me. I'm still settling in and learning the ropes. I can be a little food aggressive and sometimes even a little 'assertive' (not ... (Read More)aggressive) around other dogs. I sure love people, though, especially men. I would probably do best as an only dog, but if you have another dog, please bring them out to meet me and see how we do. I'm all vetted up, up-to-date on my shots, and hearworm negative. I'm about 16 lbs., handsome as can be and around 2 years old. (Less)

Hello, everyone. L'il Lily Rae here. I just arrived from a high-kill shelter in South Carolina, where I was surrendered with my younger brother, Oliver. I'm still checking out everything and settling in, but I really enjoyed spring vol day. It was nice to sit on everyone's laps and learn some agility moves with this thing called the 'magic spoon.' Someone even took me for a walk at the park! I'm 8 years old, around 13 lbs., UTD on shots and heartworm negative. They noticed that I am limping on my back leg, so they're getting that checked out, but I'm a Jack - it hasn't slowed me down. I like to be the boss, but I'm fine with other dogs. I ... (Read More)even get along good with children, horses and (gasp) cats! (Less)

Howdy, folks! Little Oliver here. I just arrived from a high-kill shelter in South Carolina with my sister, Lily Rae. I'm still checking out everything and settling in, but I met a lot of people at spring vol day weekend and had a great time taking my glamour shots. Okay, I admit '| at first, I was a little scared of all the new faces and energies. I cowered a little and didn't want to walk on a leash. But I'm a sucker for a treat! After some goodies and a lot of reassurance, I knew everything was going to be all right. I was walking like a pro - and posing like one, too - within no time! I'm 4 years old, around 15 lbs. and UTD on shots. ... (Read More)I tested positive for heartworm, so they treated me. I'm still in my 'taking it easy' mode to let the worms die off and leave my system, but I should be just fine. I'm more submissive than my older sister and, like her, I get along with other dogs, children, horses and, yes, kitties, too. (Less)

Jack Russell Mix    Age: Adult

Compatibility: Good with Most Dogs, Good with Kids and Adults

Health: Neutered

Howdy, everyone! Spike here. My older sister, Molly, and I lived in a home with our dad, but he didn't always get along with our mom and was sometimes not as nice as he should have been to her. It wasn't good for anyone, especially us, so when things got really scary with red and blue lights, we had to be surrendered to the shelter. We'll just leave it at that. The awesome folks at Jacks Galore Russell Rescue saw our story-and the fact that we were about to be 'put down,' whatever that means-and they couldn't let that happen. They had us pulled, and one of the vols here at Georgia Jack Russell Rescue came to get us because they were closer ... (Read More)and could make a last-minute run to get us. Molly had tumors on her belly, horrible teeth, and really bad skin issues, so she went straight to the vet. I only had a few skin issues, so I came here to wait for transport. But then the folks here had this thing called Spring Vol Day. I met a ton of people, who gave me a ton of love, attention and treats and even took my pictures. Some even said, 'If we didn't already have so many dogs '|' I don't know exactly what that means; I guess they wanted to take me home but couldn't. They just kept telling me how incredibly adorable I am while I went for walks and melted into their arms '| something about my 'adorable head' on my Jack body. I'm still scheduled to go to JG, but while I wait, they thought they would share me. If I could get adopted locally, that would be awesome for everyone. Although I arrived with my sister, I've been a little 'curious' about the 'strange' dogs here. After all, it was Molly 'n me against the world for some time. So, if you have other dogs in your house, I will definitely need to meet them and see how we hit it off. If you want an only boy, we should have no problem. Even though I've been through a lot, I totally trust people - men and women. I haven't met the little ones they call 'kids' here yet, so we would need to figure that out (safely), too. I am UTD on shots, neutered, heartworm negative and around 5-6 years old. And, for those wondering, Molly is doing great! The tumors were benign, her teeths are cleanz, and she's feeling good for the first time in a long time! (Less)

Jack Russell    Age: Puppy

Compatibility: Not Good w/ Other Dogs, Not Good w/ Cats, Good w/ Adults (Not Kids)
Personality: Very High Energy, Very Dominant
Health: Spayed, Vaccinations Current

Hello, everybody! How are you?! How's life?! What's going on?! Am I excited?! Of course, I am! I'm an 9-month-old Jack Russell puppy! Everything is new(!), exciting(!), overwhelming(!) %BD'%BD| well, you get the gist. I was purchased from a breeder by a mature couple, who very much loved me. Unfortunately, my mother got very sick, and my father had to focus on taking care of her. I'm a bit high-maintenance (as all puppies are, especially Terriers), so they gave me to their daughter's family, hoping I would fit in. Unfortunately, again %BD'%BD| they already had a couple of older dogs who weren't 'thrilled' with my puppy energy and ... (Read More)needs. Their parents also worked full-time and knew I needed a lot of guidance and TLC, so they made the decision to surrender me to the rescue. I have been here a couple of weeks, have met a lot of new people at Spring Vol Day (all of whom I loved) and have learned a lot of new things. That said, I still need to learn a lot more new things %BD'%BD| like how to get along with other dogs. I've already met a couple of prospective families, but I had 'words' with their furkids. So %BD'%BD| with all that said %BD'%BD| as adorable as I am, I am not a puppy for the first-time Jack Russell parent. I am exploding with energy and excitement and I need a lot of focus, guidance and positive reinforcement. I could be OK with other dogs, if you and/or your dog is willing to teach me socialization skills. I probably wouldn't be good with kids as I'm very much a baby myself and need to learn some manners around the little ones. But one thing is for sure - I am one smart girl! I sit beautifully, am treat-motivated, and love to learn new things. This whole ball and agility thing has been awesome for me. With the right parent(s), I am going to be a rock star! (Less)

Hello, everybody! L'il Abby here. I was a 'surprise' from my dad to my mom as a gift and, well, you know how that goes. It rarely ends up well. My parents are truck drivers and always on the go. I didn't like being on the go at all. The road was no place for me. So, they had to give me up. But that's OK. I am getting lots of attention and playtime here at rescue. I can only imagine how great my next real home will be! I am a little skittish at first around strangers, but I warm up quickly with a treat and reassurance. I will even delight you with my adorable belly walk! Give me a couple more weeks here around all these peeps who love and ... (Read More)want to help me, and I will probably be over that. I just didn't have a lot of socialization before, so the world can be a scary place. I like other dogs and want to play with them, but I still need to learn how to properly approach them. I am a Jack/Chi baby about six months old and around 11-12 lbs. I'm heartworm-negative, UTD on all of my shots, healthy, playful and happy. I'll just need to be spayed before I can leave. (Less)

Hey, people. Skeety here. My older brother, Odie, and I were dropped off at the kill shelter. Our family moved and they couldn't take us with them, so '| Yeah, let's not dwell on it. It is what it is. Odie was a little protective of me, and I'm a little outgoing, which lead to a little argument after we arrived. They separated us, and we're both doing OK now. It could be cool if they adopted us together, but it's not a two-fer, like Eli and Elanor. We will learn to move on, if needed. I'm an outgoing, silly boy around 4-5 years old who is, unfortunately, heartworm positive. I'll need to be treated and won't be available for a few weeks, ...
